Land-based Power
DPI has a wealth of experience with land-based power, including mobile/packaged power solutions, combined cycle and peaking power plants:
Mobile/Packaged Power Plants
In the developing world, expedited project execution and minimized field installation are key project drivers. High efficiency mobile/packaged power plant configurations offer these advantages while adding benefits of fast-start capability and the flexibility of fuel switching between liquid and gas. With DPI’s expedited project execution process, such projects can be installed and commissioned in as little as 30 days once the gas turbines arrive on-site.
Combined Cycle Power Plants
For projects that will operate under a long term Power Purchase Agreement where high efficiency is more important than flexibility and speed of execution, DPI offers combined cycle solutions. A combined-cycle power plant uses both gas turbine(s) and a steam turbine together to produce up to 50 percent more electricity from the same fuel than a traditional simple-cycle plant. The exhaust waste heat from the gas turbine(s) is used to generate high pressure steam, which is routed to the nearby steam turbine to generate extra power. Air cooling can be utilized in the condensing cycle in order to minimize plant water consumption. Gas-fired combined cycle is the most efficient technology for base load power plants available today.
Peaking Power Plants
The term “Peaking power plant” is relatively new in electricity markets for developing countries. But, for countries such as the U.S. where the growth of renewable technologies such as solar and wind has caused significant swings in utility grid power supply versus demand, it has become a familiar term. These plants are the last to be dispatched into the market, being called upon to operate when energy demand is peaking. “Peakers” are typically natural gas fired, simple-cycle gas turbine configurations that are designed for fast-start and a high degree of cycling, since the plant may be called upon to operate daily for just a few hours. DPI pursues Peaking projects with gas turbines in simple-cycle that include Best Available Control Technology for NOx and CO emissions.
